Pickleball is On The Move!

What is Pickleball? That was the phrase I used when a colleague invited me to travel to play at an indoor pickleball facility last summer.

My friend had been playing for years and decided invite me to play on a whim while we were traveling to evaluate an investment opportunity.

I added a day to the front end of my trip to take look as a courtesy to my buddy and my life hasn’t been the same since. Pickleball is not only an absolute joy to play, it gives me the competitive vibe I love without the angst associated with other sports. No matter how hard we play, we all enjoy and support each other.

As I play more, I am noticing there are two types of play. Dinking / Banging. The Dinker game is reserved for the traditional 5.0+ player and the Banger game is more prevalent in the younger crowd. I think that creates a really fun dynamic in the sport. For me, I love banging but know that I have to work on my dinking game if I want to elevate my tournament game.

The best player in the sport is Ben Johns. He has the perfect balance of Dinking and Banging. I’ve linked a story from Yahoo that does a nice job of introducing Ben. I hope you find this interesting.
